Introduce Yourself

What a flimsy way to start this but hi, I’m Anica. 21 years old from Manila, Philippines. I’m currently studying AB Multimedia Arts at De La Salle – College of St. Benilde. I am a person very much into music, film, traveling, and I’m also an avid The Beatles fan.
I created this website mainly because one, it’s a requirement in school for us to have an online portfolio, and two, I’m almost exiting college (yay!) — and that only means that in a few months, I will have more time to go back to my first love, which is writing.
I have always wanted to write. That’s why I thought that it would be a great idea to integrate my online portfolio and my personal blog into one. It all started in high school, when I first fell in love with Liberal Arts. Growing up in all-girls Catholic institution in Manila that rigorously trained its students in grammar, literature, public speaking, and debate, in both English and Filipino, had me realizing that hey, this is one of the many things that I want to do. To write. To speak. To contribute a thought to the world no matter how little it may be.
I’ve always believed that the world is contrastingly a big yet small place. How’s that? I don’t know. Maybe it’s small in a sense that we literally are a speck of dust in a greater scheme of things, yet it’s so vast that one lifetime is still not enough for you to learn so much about it.
Hmm.. What else? I looove traveling. Ever heard of the theory saying that some people were actually born with the DRD4-7R aka the “wanderlust gene” that’s embedded on the DNA? (hahaha) Well, if that was true, maybe I have it. I’m the type of person who constantly dreams of being somewhere else. Don’t get me wrong, I love the concept of home, however there’s this spirit in me that only gets satisfied whenever I’m out there to explore. I’m fond of traveling, sure, but the lifestyle to sustain that is a different topic. 🙂I’m still far from being able to visit all the places I want to see, but I will. Someday. If the universe says so.
I can pretty much say that I’m an indecisive dreamer. At 21, I still jitter every time I’m fronted with the question, “How do you see yourself in 5 years?”, until I came into the conclusion that you can grow to be your own Jack/Jane of all trades. I am currently in the creatives field right now, and I love it. I enjoy meeting people who see the world differently. It’s just that I don’t feel that this is already my finish line yet. There’s still so many things that I want to do and explore.
Another dream of mine is to be a lawyer. Damn. I like discussions, I like reading laws and policies, I like rebuttals and social activism. Again, an influence of having debates everyday in high school. However, I’m quite hesitant if I can survive the law student life. That only means missing family trips, dinner meet-ups with friends, my alone time, etc. It’s going to be a big step ahead if I pursue law school, and I don’t want it to be another impulsive decision that I’ll make just to be able to say “I’m doing it.” If I push through with law school dreams, I want it to be my end goal, if it’s possible.
I’ll update this blog from time to time. Speaking to me in person would be very much appreciated as well.. Haha. I hope I’ve given you a glimpse of me on this first post, but that’s all for now.
Welcome to the blogging world, self. Make it worthwhile. 🙂
